The Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas opened in 1952. The Moroccan-themed Las Vegas hotel offered 1,720 classically styled guestrooms and suites. Originally called Club Bingo, the Sahara was the sixth resort to be built on the Las Vegas Strip.

Room service was available from 6am until midnight, daily. In the heart of the property, was a sparkling 5,000 square foot pool featuring 13 private cabanas, circular fountains, a gazebo-covered spa and a snack bar that offered tropical refreshments.

The Sahara Hotel and Casino Las Vegas hosted some of the biggest names in entertainment over it's years, including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli and a slew of comedic talent like George Carlin, Imogene Coca, Bill Cosby, Don Rickles and many others.

The Sahara was one of the five hotels featured in the original 'Ocean's Eleven' movie, made in 1960 and was the last place Abbott and Costello appeared together before the comedy duo parted ways for good.

After 59 years of operation the Sahara Hotel & Casino Las Vegas became the last of the 'Rat Pack' hotels to close it's doors on May 16, 2011 at 2:00pm PST.
